Best track: Ond Spiritism
Evil, malicious spite filters through every pore of Svindeldjup Ättestup. A perfect continuation of Ond Spiritism (a tongue-in-cheek callback is also in the cover and the second track shares its name with the previous album) and a definite step away from the band’s early raw output, a blazing path draws back to its spiritual predecessor, Nemesis Divina. That same raw fury seeps through every track, cuts through every note and rasping roar. An underlying epic-ness shrouds the album making it a true warrior’s manifesto.
The production is perfect: polishing the final product somewhat since Ond Spiritism and embracing a strong, present sound with just the right amount of grime.
A wholly unexpected and masterful return for the Swedish masters.
